Cheer Selfie Saturday Hits the Nation's Capitol on this Fine Morning

It's a beautiful day, isn't it? It's Saturday, there is college football on like 1/3 of the TV stations and the first Sunday of NFL season is just one sleep away. That is a very fine day indeed.

Speaking of fine, today's Cheer Selfie Saturday shot comes from a mighty fine Washington Wizards dancer named Megan. A fine lady on a fine day is just fine by me.

Always Need the Washington Wizards Dancers in Our Lives

When all else fails, it is always a good idea to go back to the well. In this case, the well is the Washington Wizards dancers. They have always been one of my favorite NBA cheer squads and these pics from our pal Stewart do nothing to change that!

The Washington Redskins cheerleaders get the majority of the publicity on the professional cheerleader front in our nation's capital, but I really feel like the Washington Wizards cheerleaders deserve some more credit. Seriously, where's the love for the Wizard Girls?

The Washington Wizards cheerleaders have finished up their audition process and narrowed it down to a list of 30 finalists. I'm so happy to see our friend Joanna in that list!

Now the public has a chance to vote to make sure their favorite Wizard Girl makes the final cut. Head on over to the Wizard Girls website to vote today!

Washington Wizards' Cheerleader Joanna Is A Harvard Graduate

For real! Like, the real Harvard. Not the Harvard of the South (Vanderbilt) or any other Harvard of the ___ that you can think of. She didn't just go to Harvard for the hell of it, either. She graduated with a degree in Economics. Most you can't even spell Economics, let alone get a degree in it from Harvard.

I try to keep telling people not to underestimate professional cheerleaders, but they just don't listen. I would venture a guess that Joanna is smarter than any person that has ever visited Pro Cheerleader Heaven. Add that to the fact that she is freakin' adorable and you've got a deadly combination. Then you put her in Washington DC, and she is set to take over the world.

So when Joanna is the Chairwoman of the Fed in about 15 years, don't forget that you first met her on Pro Cheerleader Heaven!

Washington Wizards' Girls Co-Captain Brittney

In only her 2nd year on the squad, Brittney has worked her way into the role of co-captain of the Washington Wizards dance crew. That is some kind of meteoric rise to the top if you ask me. Of course, with her background with the Washington Nationals Nat Pack, she had a leg up on the competition already.

Brittney also had a chance to travel to China this summer with some of the other Wizards Girls to spread good cheer and joy on behalf of the NBA. I'm thinking they made a good choice sending Brittney. Because if she can't put a smile on your face, no one can. Maybe she'll be the key to solving all our future disputes with the Chinese!

This is a squad that doesn't get enough publicity, in my opinion. I think I'm going to try and change that.

OK, I don't really have any first hand knowledge that all of the Wizards' cheerleaders are fine, but since there weren't any serious injuries reported I think I'm gonna be OK on this on. Honestly, I was just looking for an excuse to post some pics of this highly underrated squad.
