Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Military Tour Brings Joy to Overseas Soldiers

Since 2001 the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders have been traveling overseas as a part of the Department of Defense's Armed Forces Entertainment program to entertain soldiers. This last year found 8 current Dolphins cheerleaders and one alum traveling to Afghanistan, Kuwait and Djibouti to entertain troops. Over the 15 days abroad, the cheerleaders visited six different bases and the US embassy in Kabul. At each stop the cheerleaders would perform a 45-minute show, sign autographs and give away prizes to the troops.

One of the cheerleaders to travel this year was 4-year veteran Melissa. Feeling the need to give back to the men and women serving our country overseas, Melissa and her teammates performed with the intention of raising spirits and bringing a little bit of the USA to the far corners of the world. The interactive performances provided the soldiers a chance to relax and enjoy themselves for at least a little bit.

Melissa says she will absolutely go back again if she gets another opportunity. She feels like the trip changed her as a person and helped her create memories that will last a lifetime. After all, how many people get to fly over the city of Kabul in a Black Hawk helicopter with the doors wide open?

Happy Veteran's Day everyone!
